MIKE
STEEP — Mike joined us in the Fall of 2006 after graduating from
Missouri State University with a degree in Music Education. He had his first experience with the
trumpet when he was 11 years old after finding his Dad’s old horn tucked
away in a closet. After a few
lessons with Dad, he signed up for band in 6th grade and has
been playing ever since. He went on
to attend St. Charles West High School and eventually was selected as the
lead trumpet player for the Missouri All-State Jazz Band. Mike teaches band at Parkway Northeast Middle School in St.
Louis County’s Parkway School District and is currently serving as the St.
Louis Suburban Music Educators Vice-President of Middle School Jazz
Band. His wife, Erin, also graduated
from Missouri State University with a degree in Music Education and teaches
band at Marquette High School. She
has recently earned her Masters Degree in Secondary Educational
Administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Also an excellent musician, Erin plays
horn with the St. Louis Wind Symphony. Mike and Erin have been married since May of 2008 and live in
O’Fallon, Missouri with their two dogs, Percy and Logan, and are excited to
announce that they are expecting their first baby in late November
2009! They enjoy spending time with
friends and family, walking their dogs, and getting to as many Cardinals
games as possible during their time off from teaching during the summer. |
